Surface Tension - New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (Online)

Surface Tension: “The property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive nature of its molecules.”

In her groovy piece about the Day of the Dead festivities, Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz describes the elusive border between reality and magic. Bernstein’s Mass is a musical theatre piece in which the congregation struggles between faith and doubt. The celebrant attempts to control the situation and restore peace through the Three Meditations, which feature principal cellist Leo Eguchi. Verdi was one of the greatest opera composers of all times. The NBSO performs his only surviving chamber work, the string quartet in its version for string orchestra, revealing an opera without words.
